glass_display_case2Glass display showcases have unique advantages versus other types of retail fixtures. They protect your merchandise even as they showcase it to its best effect. This keeps your merchandise safe and clean, and also conveys the message to customers that these items are "important," which could help boost sales.

Glass display showcases can be used to present precious merchandise like jewelry, upscale clothing, or food; bakeries use these showcases to protect and present offerings for sale in the most appealing way possible so that customers will salivate and buy right on the spot.

Glass display showcases can give you these same advantages. They are also versatile enough that you can dress them up unique ways that make you – and your merchandise – stand out from the crowd.

Dress up glass display showcases and boost sales:

  • Play with lighting. Using carefully placed focal lighting to highlight products is a tried-and-true way to make your merchandise look more attractive. You don't just have to stop with white focal lighting, though. Although you can't get too "busy" with your lighting so that you distract from rather than enhance your product, you can experiment with different lighting formations and colors to see what looks best.

  • Experiment with different display shelving and backing accessories for a fresh, new look. Display case backing, shelving and cloth draping in various colors and materials can offset your merchandise to best effect. This is one of the easiest ways to "accessorize" your display cases, since these simple changes can create a whole new look instantaneously for very little money.

  • Swap out old signage for new. Did you know that you're signage can actually help you create and cement your "brand"? Consistent signage throughout your store that's truly "yours" will help customers remember you and the products you sell. If you're just using plain old "label maker" signage in your display cases, consider matching what you use for the rest of your store instead. This provides the consistency and redundancy unique to your brand, making you look more professional.

  • "Mix it up a little." Have you always filled glass display showcases with the same kinds of merchandise across the board? For example, do all of your jewelry display cases contain just jewelry, while your cashmere sweater displays house just sweaters? You can actually increase sales by doing something called "cross merchandising."  With cross-merchandising, you combine at least two different but related products in the same display. In the aforementioned example, instead of displaying cashmere sweaters and jewelry separately, carefully display them in the same case to show how they go together. Pair contrasting or complementary colors of bracelets, necklaces, rings and sweaters to show how the jewelry can perfectly accessorize customers' looks better than they could on their own.

  • Use theme displays. Holidays, weddings and other special occasions can be used to create theme displays in showcases that focus on occasions or holidays; you can also create theme displays that speak to a particular season. When you're ready to move into spring sales, for example, you can create theme displays that focus on the joys of spring with merchandise you sell. Combine mannequins wearing bright, airy spring clothing with other spring must-haves (in clothing and accessories) like sunglasses, hats and shoes. Or, expand to include other merchandise in your inventory like tennis rackets, baseballs, and other sporting equipment. The combinations for theme displays are endless. Use your imagination and find a cohesive "story to tell." This is yet another way to sell what would otherwise be disparate products together, for greater profits.
