Store Fixtures and the Art of SellingYour store fixtures are not just there to hold your merchandise. They actually help you sell, artfully. How?

When the right store fixtures are used, they facilitate selling by:

Putting your products on display and making them more alluring to your customers

The right fixture can make products more alluring and enticing. Use fixtures that are the right color, material, etc., so that they showcase your products as attractively as possible. Use glass shelving with focus lighting, for example, to showcase jewelry. Use classic and elegant faux or real wood shelving with a satin finish to display fine leather goods, or clothing. It's up to you to choose the right fixture in order to achieve the look you want, but when you use the right fixtures to display products, customers are attracted to and want to buy them.

Giving you flexibility with store layout so that customers are encouraged to shop

The best stores use their store fixtures in strategic layouts that encourage customers to shop. In order for that to happen, your fixtures must be flexible, interchangeable, and easy to set up as well as break down.

Store fixtures are particularly important to a "shop centric" store layout for two reasons:

  • They help you flexibly showcase hot, seasonal, and high-volume items in interesting ways

Have a hot new product that's just come in? You will want to create an interesting, eye-catching display quickly, to showcase your new merchandise "star," one that will make sure customers see it, are drawn to it, and will want to buy it. If it's going to be around for a while, you'll need to change your display with regularity so that it remains eye-catching and interesting, and if it's a "hot" item that's going to just as quickly disappear, you'll need to quickly break down the display once you're done with it so that you can move onto the next thing.

Because your store layout is going to be changing relatively frequently with these sorts of influxes, you need to be able to keep up with those changes easily. Store fixtures let you have that flexibility and creativity with what is often a one-time expense. Invest in some quality fixtures, and you'll be able to use them over and over again in endless configurations.

  • They can help direct foot traffic and keep customers shopping longer

If you want customers to see every item, you can set store fixtures up so that customers are guided along particular foot traffic paths that "help" them meander through your store and browse longer. You probably won't always have customers who want to come and stay for a long and leisurely shopping experience, but the more of your merchandise customers are exposed to, the better.

Updating your look inexpensively and quickly

Although old and out-of-date fixtures might be suitable for that dusty thrift shop down the street, you must keep your look updated and fresh. One of the ways to do that is with store fixtures. Choose modern, edgy, or classic, and update them with fresh colors, styles, designs and materials regularly.

Making it possible for you to showcase *every* item in your store

If your retail space is small and/or you carry a large selection of merchandise, you may only have a limited amount of merchandise on display, which will hurt sales. However, the right store fixtures give you the flexibility to efficiently use every inch you can spare without making your store appear crowded or crammed. Focus on creating a pleasant shopping experience for  your customers with the right store fixtures and guaranteed, you won't be sorry!
